Off-Track Wagering Measure Dies in California Assembly SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 9. — The latest attempt to legalize off-track wagering in California died Tuesday when Assemblyman Thomas Doyle, of Los Angeles, author of the controversial measure, raised no objection to its being placed on the inactive file. The bill was refused passage by the assembly onvMay 18, but Doyle had served notice that he would ask for another vote on it. Unable to pick up any additional support in the interval, Doyle abandoned his efforts. j
