These events are the 0,000 Hyde Park Stakes, a five and one-half furlongs dash for two-year-olds, which will feature the opening day program on Monday, June 20; the 0,000 Princess Doreen Stakes, a race for three-year-old fillies at six furlongs which will be presented on Wednesday, June 22, and the 5,000 Equipoise Mile, a handicap for three-year-olds and upward which will highlight the first Saturday of the meeting, June 25. Entries postmarked prior to midnight Saturday will be accepted. Racing secretary Frank E. "Jimmy" Kilroe will arrive on Monday to open his office at the track. For some years Kilroe has been on the staff of John B. Campbell, racing secretary at all New York tracks. He will make the change in affiliation following the close of the Belmont Park meeting Saturday. Among Kilroes first duties will be the allotment of weights for the Equipoise Mile. These imposts will be made public on Sunday, June 19. One of racings most handsome trophies, the C. V. Whitney Challenge Cup, will go to the owner whose horses succeed in winning this event three times since 1944, when the trophy was first put up. The race commemorates the world record mile of 1:34%, which Equipoise ran at Arlington Park in 1932. The famous "Chocolate Soldier" campaigned under the colors of Whitney. Big Influx Due Next Week Though the main influx of horses to Arlington Park will take place next week, quite a few important stables already are on the grounds. The most important recent arrivals were shipped here by Hurst Philpot, trainer for Leon Levy, who took over quite a few of the Jaclyn Stable horses following the dissolution of his partnership with Jay Paley. Levys thoroughbreds will continue to race under the name of the Jaclyn Stable. The arrivals include Spotted Bull, a son of Bull Dog — Spotted Beauty, for whom Jaclyn Stable made the highest bid of all 194 yearling auctions — 5,000. It acquired this bay colt at the Keeneland summer sales from the Coldstream Stud consignment. Spotted Bull was unplaced in his only start as a juvenile last season, but his handlers hope to get him going well this season. Hes nominated for the Arlington Classic and the American Derby. Others in the Jaclyn string at Arlington Park are Mulatto, Imperial Rock, I Will, Brown Moat and Arthurian. Mrs. Ada L. Rices horses, headed by Model Cadet, the 194 Washington Park Futurity winner, also are on the grounds. Next weeks contingent of arrivals will be headed by the eastern section of the Calumet Farm stable, which has been campaigning at Belmont under Jimmy Jones. Jimmy will bring in Citation, Coaltown, Wistful, Ponder, Re-Armed and others. The Kentucky string, including Bewitch, Armed and Free America, is already at Arlington Park under the care of Ben Jones.
