Root Beds Down Nine OCEANPORT, N. J., June 9. — Trainer Tommy Root unloaded nine head at Monmouth yesterday, for the June 17 inaugural of the 47-day summer racing season. The shipment was led by Circus Clown, winner of the 1948 renewal of the Select Handicap and a candidate for stakes honors during the coming meet. Also bedded down were the stables of Glen NI W. Mc- J Naughton, prominent New Jersey owner- j breeder; Lloyd Murray, C. O. Ferguson, Lyman Brusie and others. It brought the thoroughbred count in the stable area to over 300. Many other shipments were reported en route from Garden State Park, Maryland and New York, and the stalls will be fully packed well in advance of the June 17 bugle call.
