Fast Field of Nine in Lincoln Dash Enforcer Clashes With Proud Ruler Eternal Reward, Fayorito Among Others Named for Behave Yourself Purse WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., June 9. — Mrs. Emil Denemarks fleet gelding, Enforcer, generally regarded as one of the best thoroughbreds ever raced on Illinois soil, and Mrs. Ada L. Rices extremely fast mare, Proud Ruler, are expected to wage a keen struggle for honors in the Behave Yourself Purse, six-furlong dash that headlines the well-balanced program offered by the Lincoln Fields Racing Association tomorrow. Nine are to contest the issue in this rather open heat, with Marion H. VanBergs greatly improved Fa-vorito looming as third choice. Others in the field are Fred W. Stolps Sunny Boo, Woolford Farms Fast Mail, Mrs. Thelma Otts Easy Trade, Norman Elrods Hot and JHigh and Augustus and Nahms Eternal Reward and M. J. Dants Southern Pride. Proud Ruler, a giant mare who is being prepped for the fashionable stakes for racers of her sex on the Arlington and Washington Park agenda, appears to be as good at the present as she ever has been. She displayed one of the best efforts shown by any thoroughbred at the current meeting when she tow-roped a useful field that included Trixie, Riot, First Whirl, Queen Hairan, He Could, Tri Step and Mons Boy. The imposing daughter of Easy Mon — Rule All stepped to the front immediately, opened up a wide advantage and coasted the remainder of the six furlongs that was timed in 1:10%. Against much stronger opposition tomorrow, however, she is to pick up an additional six pounds, and if she manages to turn back her foes she will take on considerable stature for her future important engagements. Purchased as Broodmare Prospect Her recent victory was her first of the year. Earlier she raced at Santa Anita, then switched activity to New York. In the Steger Handicap here she was badly beaten by Delegate and others, but rebounded nicely with her aforementioned victory. Mrs. Rice purchased the big mare from J. M. Hutchins last year as a broodmare prospect. Enforcer has shown a couple of powerful races in stakes at this course and there is a chance, at the weights, that he will rule a slight choice over the Rice speedster. The four-year-old son of Raphael II. — Enfin, was raised at the Denemark Stock Farm at Hinsdale, HI., and has been showing excellent speed since he first came on the track. In seven starts this year he has been out of the money only once and that was at a mile and one-sixteenth, a distance he is not supposed to fancy. Enforcer opened his present Illinois campaign in the Crete Handicap and at the wire he was just two and one-half lengths in back of the local sprint champion, Delegate, after having lost considerable ground on the turn. The latter incident, however, could hardly be used as an excuse, for he has shown a tendency to run out in virtually all of his races. He followed that with another powerful effort in the Steger Handicap, also captured by Delegate. This time he was third and once again he made a wide arc of the final bend. Enforcer is the Denemark "hole card" for the important Arlington sprints and is under the supervision of Bob McGarvey, one of Illinois main contributions to the training fraternity of America. Favorito, a graduate from the claiming ranks, is easily one of the most improved horses on the grounds. The gelded son of Flares — Morning, showed a whale of an effort here the other day against the speedy With Pleasure. An outsider in the field, Favorito closed with an electrifying rush and at the line had the Breault six-year-old, who holds three victories over Armed, as straight as a string to win by a length. Had the distance been slightly farther, Favorito probably would have emerged victorious. Prior to that race, his usual late burst of speed carried him to a triumph against ,000 platers and before that he raced with a ,000 claiming tag. Fast Mail will be well backed by some. The big gelding has been sparingly raced because his tremendous size is not conducive to hard drilling. The six-year-old made his initial start since 1947 here the other day and was so strongly supported that he was third choice in the wagering. However, he failed to rally after holding a contending position and was beaten by Danada Capt., Best Prospect, and Nickey W. General belief is that he will display considerable improvement; enough, as a matter of fact, to afford him a splendid chance of victory. Eternal Reward, who has shown his very best races over the local racing strip, will be making his first start of the "year. He is another that is being prepared for stakes at Arlington and Washington and is using this sprint as part of his training routine. His best distance is at more than a mile, but he won the Crete Handicap against a crack field of sprinters here last year. Southern Pride showed good speed to finish third to With Pleasure in his last start, and a slight improvement could make him a contender.
