Whitney Named Hospital Head NEW YORK, N. Y., June 9.— John Hay Whitney, steward of The Jockey Club and one of Americas foremost turfmen and breeders, was elected president of New York Hospital last night at a meeting of the board of governors. He succeeds William H. Jackson, who will now serve as vice-president. Whitney has been a member of the board since 1927, and for the past three years was vice-president. Accepting the higher office he said he was "aware that the most vital problem in a community is the health of the people," and he promised to do all in his power to help New York Hospital carry out that responsibility.
