Beck Sells Three of His Horses to Bothman Bros. WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., June 9. — By special permission of the Illinois Racing Board, Trainer John F. Beck today sold ajb private terms, Flasher, Mel-vin and Masico Lad to the partnership of Clem and Clyde Bothman. The three horses which changed hands were recently claimed by Beck, who last Tuesday was indefinitely suspended by the Illinois Racing Board as the result of a stimulant found in the saliva test of Hard War. Jimmy Hilkes is the new trainer of the trio. Permission was necessary for the sale of the three horses, because under the rules of racing in Illinois, "No horse claimed out of a claiming race shall be sold or transferred to anyone within 60 days of the day it was claimed, except in another claiming race." Beck disposed of another of his horses in a private transaction with A. E. Mettz, who purchased Blenette.
