Re-Torta Will Be Raced At California Tracks To Ship Mexican Triple Crown Winner, Be Fearless and The Gike HIPODROMO DE LAS AMERICAS, Mexico, D. F., June 9. — Re-Torta, winner of the local "Triple Crown," is scheduled for campaigning in California, according to an announcement made here by Carlos Gomez, owner of the three -year-old filly. In addition to winning the "Triple Crown," the daughter of Bold Venture — Plain Talk, showed she was better than average in finishing second in the Handicap de las Americas in which she finished with a belated rush the last furlong of the one mile and a quarter event to best many older horses. A plane has been ordered and expected to accompany the chestnut filly on the trip is her stablemate, Montanes. The latter was third in the Handicap de las Americas, dropping the place to Re-Torta when the latter made her charge in the stretch. Two other horses who participated in the Handicap de las Americas, Be Fearless and The Gike, are expected to go in the same plane. The Cuadra G. Z. Carranza pair were installed the public choices to win the one mile and a quarter affair but after dominating the early running dropped out of the picture in the final stages. Cuadra San Diego has also announced that their South American-bred Guapo will make the trip to California with the Cuadra San Luis and Cuadra G. Z. Carranza representative. "Buster" Millerick, well known here, and who conditioned a division of the C. S. Howard establishment at the local course and later took over the training of Gay Dalton when the late Captain Patrick Irving OHay fell too ill to look after the immortal son of American Flag, will have charge of the quintet when they arrive in California. Be Fearless has been campaigned in California and held his own with the best on the West Coast, especially when the distances were between seven furlongs and one mile. The swift running son of Burgoo King should earn his keep at the Hollywood meeting. Montanes is at the top of his form and should give able help to Re-Torta in the event Millerick decides to race the pair in the same race. The same can be said of The Gike. This Irish-bred fellow was considered the best 3-year-old here during the early part of the current season which began last October and he stood, out so far over others of his age that he was asked to carry much more weight than his opponents.
