Limit Field to Contest Main Ak-Sar-Ben Event Ann-O-Vision Has Slight Edge Oyer Foes in Whirlaway Purse AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 9. — Lesser lights of the local thoroughbred this west side course as the more formidable handicap and allowance performers await Saturdays renewal of the ,-500 Man O War handicap and other lucrative supporting events. The Whirlaway Purse, a one mile and 70 -yard test fashioned for members of the lower claiming category, is perhaps the best offering on the eight-race agenda and, it should result in a spirited duel due to the evenly-matched 13 contenders who were named to contest the issue. Mrs. R. W. Blacks Ann-O-Vision, who enjoyed considerable success during the recently concluded Ingleside and Phoenix Fair Grounds sessions, appears to have a slight edge on the Whirlaway Field. Included are such other formidable midde-distance platers as Ed Luthers Waxon, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hawkins Blitzen Jr., L. J. Marshs Ben Rock, Sapp and Royces Reno TJgramin, S. S. Barretts Reddy Belle, J. P. Kampmeyers Hemboss, H. Culvers Delightful, Benjamin Fogelsons Busy Pony, Mrs. E. T. Almacks Helens Alfred, Carl Craigs Clyde G., V. V. Longs Kistan, and Phil Raaschs Belle Mimi. Ann-O-Vision will be making her local debut and, will probably rule the post time favorite if the form displayed during the Arizona meetings can be used as a criterion. This nine-year-old daughter of Mate — Brown Vision, accounted for four victories during the Phoenix season and, since her arrival here has been working satisfactorily. Chief contention to the black charge should come from Belle Mimi if the Rasch colorbearer should be fortunate enough to draw in from the "also eligible" list. Belle Mimi has shown considerable ability during the present session and, could easily be returned the winner if she should choose to come forth with her best effort. Of the others Waxon, Busy Pony, and Reno TJgramin seem highly capable of gaining the major portion of the purse off their best races. Busy Pony, who recently arrived from Sportsmans Park in Chicago, is being lowered a bit in class and, should find the Whirlaway group to his specific liking.
