TUNED UP, unhurried in the opening stages, improved position on the outside when called upon, displaced the leaders and drew away. BANOVINA ran out while in command on the first turn, retained the lead and was brought in, went out slightly leaving the final turn and lasted for the place. PATMIBOY, well placed from the start, was impeded between the leaders on the final turn. HILDS LIBERTY weakened in the final furlong. SIR WHITE was unable to be extended when blocked and hemmed in on the rail most of the way. HYBLAZE was outrun. RATION BOOK ran out early. VESUVIO tired. ROUNDELEER ran very wide on the first turn. STRAETH went wide leaving the first turn, took command when TOP HOPE weakened, drew into a comfortable lead between calls under steadying restraint in the final furlong, then held SIDDONS safe when roused in the final stride. The latter was slow to reach best stride, bumped with FUN QUEST leaving the final turn when making a strong bid and was getting to the winner. MALI JOHNNY had no excuse in a good effort FUN QUEST was bumped and blocked midway in the final furlong. TOP HOPE tired after making the pace. FRANKIE D. quit. WAZA WANA was through early.
