Won easily; second and third driving. GORGEOUS REDED raced in the runner-up position to midstrstch, assumed command and rapidly drew clear. BIG STRAIGHT held a commanding lead after a quarter mile, but faltered in the final test A. BOMB showed speed, but was not good enough. CHANCE WAY was extremely green and could not do his best under the conditions. ANOTHER NIP caught tired horses, as did AMERICAN NED. COLLEEN EGRET showed speed, but could not remain in contention. The latter held a forward position, but failed to respond. to urging. DEBONAIRE raced with the pace for a half mile and weakened. HARPIST moved menacingly on the turn and quit. LUCKY JOHN broke poorly. MOR HOPE was fractious in the gate. SLIC-A-WA quit early. FENESTARA showed good speed along the backstretch and quit to a walk. The latter raced in contention from the start, was taken to the outside in the early stretch and was getting to the winner. SMARTY-ARTY raced in contention from the outset and continued gamely to the end. JEEP QUEST turned in a fair effort after being shuffled back early. PLOWMAN vied for the lead for five furlongs, then faltered. OMITTED drove into close quarters along the Inside on the turn and was rank while apparently full of run. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. ORIOLE raced with the pace from the start, drew clear In the early stretch and continued to draw clear while winning easily. ABBOTTSTOWN held a slight lead along the backstretch, was knocked back sharply when ORIOLE and BLUE HOLLY moved from the outside, was steadied to recover and settled down nicely to close with good energy. He came back badly cut on the left foreleg, but no action was taken on apprentice Sanders claim of foul. LARAN broke slowly and failed to threaten. BLUE HOLLY was on the outside of ORIOLE and ABBOTTSTOWN and may have been the direct cause of ABBOTTSTOWN being knocked back. RAISE YOU quit. Overweight— Abbottstown, 2 pounds. The latter was far back early, worked way between horses to challenge, then hung in the drive. SURE COUNT moved menacingly to the stretch and swerved badly thereafter. SUBDUE closed full of run.
