Scarborough Downs Purse Distributions Announced SCARBOROUGH, Me., May 5.— Directors of Scarborough Downs, newest track to be constructed in the New England States, met yesterday and following the session, Allan J. Wilson, executive vice-president and general manager announced that the minimum purse distribution for the Maine track will be ,400. There will be a ,500 purse offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the daily feature purse for the remaining days of the week, held at ,000. Work at the new track is progressing according to schedule and everything is ex pected to be in readiness for the opening of the sixty-one day session which gets under way on July 1 and runs through September 9. Steel structure for the enormous grandstand will be completed in the next eight or nine days, according to Wilson. The mile racing oval has reached the stage for the spreading of top soil. This will take place later in the week, according to word received from the management of the Maine track. Wilson and racing secretry Gordon Morrow are receiving stall applications daily and will send out notices on June 1. Announcements regarding the official family, to conduct this states first flat races under the current pari-mutuel law, will be made Tery shortly. • i -
