To Keep Excise Tax on Wine WASHINGTON, D. C, May 5 UP. — The House Ways and Means Committee agreed today to leave the excise tax on wine unchanged. The committee decided -yesterday to leave the taxes on liquor and beer at their present levels also. The excise taxes on wine produced 5,800,000 in 1949.
