Cromwell Recalls 1892 Derby LEXINGTON. Ky., May 5.— Thomas B. Cromwell, veteran operator of the bloodstock agency bearing his name, recalls that the first Kentucky Derby he witnessed was , the 1892 running won by Azra. Cromwell was then turf editor of the now defunct Louisville Commercial and, at that time, the grandstand was on the opposite side of the track. Since that time, Cromwell has seen most of the renewals, either as a newspaperman or in his present capacity.
