EXCITEMENT, slow to settle into stride, was smartly handled while picking his spots to reach contention, gained command from the inside and drew clear under continued pressure. BELLISAN rallied boldly on the final turn, reached the leaders with EXCITEMENT, but was not flood enough. BOBS BIRTHDAY, much used in gaining the early lead from MAX TOWN, set the pace to the stretch and weakened. HIYA POP raced forwardly, but lacked a rally. ROCKY REEF was not rushed while a factor and on the outside, assumed command entering the stretch and drew clear to win easily. FEUD displayed good speed to set the pace, but was no match for the winner. ALVA H. showed speed throughout, but weakened. HARBOR QUEEN caught tired horses, as did BUSS UP. SCRUB seemed in need of education. BLOND AND GAY weakened slightly after showing early speed along the inside. SAUCY PLAY tired. JOANNYS JILL was fractious in the gate. KING MOWLEE broke tardily, was cautiously handled while improving his position, attained command and gave way in the early stretch, then came again to outfinish the opposition. CHORAL ER, hard held while setting the pace, regained the lead after being displaced briefly in the early stretch, then flattened out. WEATHERMAN could not seriously threaten while continuing to make up ground. DOUBLE NIP lacked room and speed to move through on CHORALIER early, then dropped back. TARAN, in close attendance to the pace from the start, moved with MY NELL on the final turn, then proved gamer than the latter in the final drive. MY NELL circled the field to gain command, then held on tenaciously. LORAN set the pace under rating, remained in prominence to the stretch and faltered. BARQUETTE, formidable from the outset, wrested command entering the stretch, drew clear slightly and faltered in the final strides. HYPERSONIC, badly outrun early, closed with a rush from the outside through the stretch and was going fastest of all at the end. BID HEART closed with good energy. TIDES dueled for the lead into the stretch and g?ve way. ASTRALIS was much used early and weakened. DANCE ROUTINE lacked room in -the drive. POKER CLUB quit. BILLIE was outrun. SYLVAN ROCK, within striking distance from the start, improved his position steadily and responded to strong urging to gain the nod over SCOTIA. The latter wrested command in the early stretch and fought it out gamely. AIR FLIGHT, formidable from the outset, could not stay vuth the top pair in the final stages. EUCLID was shuffled about early and made up considerable ground. INDIVIDUATE was always prominent, but failed to rally. PETRONEL should improve. STAG lacked a threatening bid. TEA TOKEN displayed her usual speed to set the pace, then quit. FIDDLER flattened out after racing with the early leader. QUESTOR stopped to a walk. Scratched— 26722 Adelantado, 102. KING WATCH disposed of KEE DEE early, turned back the challenge of BAKERS WOOD and withstood the final bid of PENAWAY. The latter was always a factor, but could not overtake the top one. DIGIT, outrun early, closed considerable ground to mid-stretch and hung. BAKERS WOOD faltered after an unsuccessful attempt to wrest command along the backstretch. GIACHINO was slow to respond and caught only tired horses. KEE DEE flattened out badly. BLACK CANASTA was outrun. MIRIAMS BOY was a factor briefly. SIR CROSS joined the leaders leaving the backstretch and was under strong pressure to outgame M CORK. The latter disposed of SUMMER FOLLY and was immediately joined by SIR CROSS, responded to good pressure, but was unable to outfinish the top one. BARBY BET raced well placed throughout. VIRGINIA GENT lacked a menacing rally after being within striking distance. TIP THE LADY saved ground to no avail. MAR POMPEY had brief speed in spots.
