With the advent of racing at Washington Park where the Lincoln Fields session will open next Tuesday a better grade of thoroughbreds will appear and the uptrend in business should be pronounced. The Lincoln Fields management has hopes hopes of of showing showing at at hopes hopes of of showing showing at at least three of the first five horses to finish in the Kentucky Derby, namely Royal Mustang, Ruhe and Fanfare in the Pea-body Memorial, highlight of the season. The only fly in the ointment seems to be the proposed race at Pimlico pitting the first four Derby horses against the money earning quartet in the Preakness. That race is still in the making, however, and while there is life there is hope. Sportsmans Park is expected to finish up showing an increase of ,000,000 over the corresponding days of last year. The five-day charity meeting which preceded the regular 14 days was about 00,000 to the good. . . -Emil Denemark recently intimated that Ruhe would remain here for the Peabody I and other spring and summer stakes for * which he is eligible. Trainer Jess Byrd, who spent last win- ter in California, has been commuting between Chicago and Louisville. Has three of his charges at Churchill Downs and a number here Jockey Johnny Adams, the mighty little man who like ole man river, keeps right on rolling, is expected to spend most of the summer in the Chicago area.
