SHELIA LOU raced prominently until inside the stretch, then weakened. HUNTERS GLORY was outrun. BEWILDER could not keep up after making a mild bid at the stretch turn. NICOTINE GAL was hustled to the front early, engaged TOP CHOICE to the final furlong, raced the latter into defeat and lasted to withstand HAREM PRINCESS. The latter, a keen factor from the start, was sent between horses through the stretch, but could not overtake the winner. TOP CHOICE began fast, raced with NICOTINE GAL to the last eighth, then faltered. TURVEYTOWN tired during the final furlong. DOCEAN raced well after being in close quarters at the upper turn. FREE ME disliked the sloppy track. FASHIONABLE raced wide. OCEAN QUEEN was never prominent. FIGHTING LU ana TEN GALLON HAT bore out badly entering the stretch. GAY LIBERTY, a keen factor from the beginning, raced AUGUST into defeat before reaching the stretch and withstood a brisk drive to hold GAY HENRIETTA safe. The latter was on the outside to the stretch, bore in when set down in the drive, but could not overtake the top one. RIGHT JAB, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and closed fast under punishment. FRISK lacked early speed, was on the outside for the stretch run and held on willingly under brisk urging. WAZA WANA made up ground during the last quarter mile. DESERT WITCH tired after racing prominently to the stretch. BOWLED OVER had no mishap. AUGUST went to the front early, engaged GAY LIBERTY to the stretch, then gave way. VERIBEST moved up fast on the outside after the start, raced gamely throughout, but could not reach the top one. MOON MIAMI, never far back, was unable to better her position when set down through the stretch. BOLTON lacked early speed. LITTLE SCOTT began slowly. MULEY was outrun. INJECTOR could not keep up, disliking the sloppy track. OCEAN COMET began alertly, but steadily lost ground after the start. SHAT-EL-ARAB INJURED HIS OFF STIFLE WHEN HE HIT THE OUTER RAIL DURING THE POST PARADE, WAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE RACE AND ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. KINGS HOPE, never far back, went to the front nearing the stretch, but failed to stay when set down in the drive. RUBYS JON was outrun. LASTING WAR began fast, but could not keep up after showing speed for three-eighths mile. CARDINAL LADY could not handle the sloppy track and was eased when hopelessly beaten. FLY OUT lacked early speed, was sent between horses and to the inside for the drive but was unable to reach the leaders. BLUE BADGE weakened after engaging TIGER TOM to the stretch. MOON BABY went to the front at once, established a long lead entering the stretch and was mildly urged thereafter to hold DISH safe. The latter, outrun to the last three-eighths, was sent to the extreme outside for the stretch run and closed fast, but could not get to the winner, although much the best of the others. FOXY PATE could not better his position when set down for the drive. COPPER POT lacked early speed and was never dangerous. COMMITMENT tired after racing prominently to the stretch. SUN BOUND could not handle the sloppy track and was never a serious threat. PROUD JACK tired after displaying early speed. SIR SPRITE began slowly and was far back throughout.
