"Ted" Stribling will be the presiding steward at the 43-day Ascot Park meeting which opens the northern Ohio racing season on Saturday, June 2. The meeting will be highlighted, in addition to 10 other features, by the eleventh annual running of the Ascot Park Gold Cup, the two mile event, which this year carry a gross value of 1,000. Linus Pierce, a native Kentuckian, born reared in the shadows of the famed Churchill Downs, will double in brass as racing secretary and the third steward. Sanford, another of the veteran Ohio officials, will serve in the stewards stand. Pierce, probably the youngest secretary, although an old hand at his chores, will assisted in the secretarys office by Brownie Held. The other officials for the meeting are Blake Wymer, clerk of scales; C. Keller, paddock judge; J. Anthony, starter; C. Smith, identifier; R. Yelton and C. Ober-leintner, patrol judges.
