That there is no shortage of mud runners harbored at the half-mile track, was evidenced through the fact that five of the eight races for Friday run into an "also eligible" list and the other events are well filled with a slightly better grade of racers. The best race is the Black Ma- jesty, a seven-furlong allowance contest in which First Security and Royal Helio, the topweights, will carry 118 pounds each, and Riot, the lightweight, will tote 106. The selection of the favorite for the Black Majesty may be a rather difficult task inasmuch as no single entrant has covered his or herself with glory since the meeting began. Riot, from the barn of A. H. Schreier, has faced the starter but once and after having been away badly, finished a good third; Chippewa Chief, a favorite early in the meeting, has been unplaced a couple of times; Sir David has a single third to show for three starts; First Secu- rity has one third in two starts; Mr. Bam failed in his only endeavor, and Royal Helio, a first time starter at the meeting, had one success in three starts during the early months of this year. i That leaves Miss Bobbin, from the stable Marion Van Berg, the only winner at the C. session. Miss Bobbin, who wintered on the Nebraska farm of her owner, came back to races quite sharp. She defeated a fairly E. e. good field in the Alsab Purse and is in sti nicely with 113 pounds. She will have the w] assistance of a stablemate, Over Night, in so run through the mud. Over Night has been out of the money in two starts here. tic With the opening of the Lincoln Fields ar Washington Park meeting fast ap- qx proaching, horses are being transported wj will daily to the Homewood course, where a 29-day season will get under way next Tues- arj and day. The first feature at the crosstown cr course will be the Inaugural Handicap at th the mile for ,000 purse. Entries close tc Tom Saturday with weights and declarations 0fj Monday. pi
