Cincinnati Tops Braves, 4-1, As Blackie Hurls Fourth Win BOSTON, Mass., May 10 UP.— Ewell Blackwell hurled the Cincinnati Reds to a 4 to 1 victory over the Boston Braves here this windy afternoon. The tall Cincinnati flinger yielded seven scattered hits and the only run off him was unearned, stemming from a two-base muff of a fly. He struck out six batters, fanning Sam Jethroe three times. Ewell aided his own cause offensively by collecting two of his teams 11 safeties. He drove across Cincinnatis second run with a long double to right in the fifth. Johnny Sain, who started for the Braves, yielded nine hits and all the Reds runs. He was lifted for a pinch hitter in the last of the seventh and recruit portsider Chet Nichols flipped the eighth and ninth. It was Sains fourth loss of the year and the fourth triumph for Blackwell.
