POPS vied for the lead on the outside, went into command when shaken up in the stretch and won with something left. SEA BOB was on nearly even terms for the lead on the rail, but was no match for the winner when the real test came. YOR OPTICIAN was forwardly placed from the beginning and had no excuse. STONE SAUCER lacked a closing rally. GYPSY FIDDLE tost some ground. TEDDYS PICNIC ran off and unseated his rider during the post parade, left the course and ran about the stabling area for a brief period before being recaptured, had some early speed during the running and tired badly. ALGIE outsprinted her field from the break, drew out steadily after a quarter mile and won easily. BIG TIME lacked room early, worked his way up between horses when clear in the drive and finished strongly. CHEERMEUP saved ground and had no excuse. EDNAS CHOICE weakened in the drive after being closest to the pace. DAWTY was forced to race wide while well placed. HOLLY RIDGE had early speed and weakened. SIR SWEEP lost ground on the turn. HALCYARA tired. CALS JEWEL, A SCHEDULED STARTER, WAS WITHDRAWN BEFORE THE FIRST RACE AND ALL WAGERS ON HIM IN THE DAILY DOUBLE WERE REFUNDED. SAILS moved up gradually from the outside, reached the lead in the stretch and drew away under hard punishment. QUICK RETORT went into a comfortable lead on the first turn, was hard put when challenged, but could not resist the winner. BAY STAR went through on the rail to be best of the others. HOPEFULLY bore out and raced wide most of the way. SUGAR DROP tired. FISH FRY was through after a half mile. Overweight— Hopefully, 1 pound. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE. HAM BONE was on the outside while a sharp contender, moved into command- leaving the turn and won fully extended. BEDAZZLE, away fastest, lacked speed to remain in command and eased back under light restraint on the turn, came again on the rail in the stretch, but was not good enough. MISS LAMAR raced between horses while vying or the lead and , faltered in the drive. TEXAS REWARD had no excuse. CHALLCOTE was slow to begin and lost ground SPANISH CREAM was pinched back early. MIGHTY SON tired. HOTROCK had good speed until the midstretch and weakened. DANUBE was knocked back sharply just after the start. FREE LINE quit. Overweight— Ham Bone, 1 pound; Challcote, 2. The latter dueled for the lead on the rail, began to go wide leaving the turn, continued out until midstretch and faltered in the late stages. GAELIC GAL lacked speed, then closed strongly on the inside. MLLE. ELL forced the pace on the outside, was carried wide when GLORYO went out and tired. SEPTEMBER, closer to the pace than usual in the early stages, especially so for a sprint effort, lost some ground on the turn and were down ABBIE CO in the late stages. The latter went up to reach a clear advantage on the turn while forced tc race slightly wide, held on stubbornly when threatened in the drive, but was not good enough. SICKLE FLIGHT lacked speed and was forced tc race wide while improving position and finished willingly. OUR PATRICE faltered in the drive. LINA II. was reserved until the far tum, moved up rapidly when called upon, displaced GINNAS WAR and won with something left. The latter bore in badly while closest to the pace, was forcefully brought around MISS OAKHURST on the far turn, but was no match for the winner. The stewards inquired into the running, but the original finish order stood RISKING was unhurried early and closed with good courage when caled upon. MISS OAKHURST tired after making the early pace. WHISKEY SOUR quit, as did MALSI. Overweight— Trifle, 2 pounds. Corrected weight— Malsi, 112. Attendance, 18,910; Total Mutuel Pool, ,763,976.
