Sylvan Rock Takes Discovery Purse Noses Out Scotia In Pimlico Thriller Heighe Homebred Is Along In Time to Nip Pacemaker; Satin Slipper Big Surprise PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 10. — Mrs. R. H. Heighes Sylvan Rock, who had enjoyed a respite from competition since the opening-day stake on Marylands inaugural spring program, returned this afternoon to drive to a well-earned nose decision over Sylvester Richs Scotia in the featured Discovery Purse. Two lengths behind the top pair in the five and a half furlongs dash was Tony Bagnatos Air Flight, just in front of the 13-to-10 favorite, Mrs. E. H. Augustus Euclid. Cloudy skies and a rather mediocre racing program held the attendance down to 8,659. Patrons were treated to stirring sport and Sylvan Rocks victory in l:072/5 was no exception. Held at 2.40 in the betting, the homebred son of Piping Rock charged from off the pace to complete a double for jockey Rocco Sisto, who had taken the opener with Mrs. C. L. Creswells Excitement.
