J. Gleesons Chombro, a hand-f some four-year-old gelded son of Chicuelo and Sun Blossom, drove to a game victory here today in the sixth race, one of the better offerings on a well-balanced pro-1 gram. Hard ridden through the stretch Tommy Barrow, the locally-owned winner sped to the end of the six furlongs with a length and a half advantage over Eu-e gene Constantin, Jr.s favored Pnut Ven-e dor. Just a head back, Joseph Mallias There picked up the third part of the purse and he was five lengths on Mrs. Leo Wagners My Sister, fourth in the field of seven starters. Chombro carried 111 pounds in the sprint and was clocked in 1:10%, regis-i tering his second success of the year. No better than third choice in the totalisator, the Gleeson gelding was held at 5 to 1. Pnut Vendor held on courageously after losing command but was under strong pressure to save the place from the tenacious Is There. My Sister, a sharp factor during the earlier furlongs, wound up a soundly-beaten fourth. Ideal, overhead conditions and a fast track greeted the approximately 7,500 spectators witnessing the formful sport at the Derby course. During the major part of the program, favorites raced to expectations and wagering moved along at a brisk clip throughout the afternoon. L. A. Wesleys Ringador, handled by Tommy Barrow, became a double winner at the current meeting, defeating seven other ordinary platers in the six-furlong opener. After racing into command during the stretch run, Ringador drew out to a three and one-half lengths verdict Walmac Farms Duty Dance, ridden by Douglas Dodson, was bet down from 15 to 1 to 14 to 5 in the Marjorie Hines Purse, stepping to an easy five and one -half lengths triumph.
