SPANISH CREAM broke tardily, worked her way between horses on the backstretch, disposed of the leaders en the outside and drew away. OVERLOAD saved ground while a sharp factor, but was no match for the winner. HOWARD DEAR vied for the lead between horses and weakened in the drive. HAPPY DEVIL ran forwardly until midway of the turn and gave way. SKY BLUE lacked room between horses early. CHALLCOTE was forced to lose ground, as was LINKYTHORN. UNDER ORDERS had early speed and tired. SIGN HERE flashed speed and quit. MISTY WOODS and NEVER FORGET broke poorly. BATTLEBUZ, eased back early, was guided to the outside and wore down BUSY SIGNAL in the final stride. The latter gained the lead after three furlongs, drew nearly clear and just missed when weakening near the end. SINN FEIN was bumped just after the start, gained a forward position shortly afterward and held on gamely. JOE E. LEWIS veered out sharply just after the start. FULTON went into command shortly after the start, shock off DON JOSE II. and held a comfortable lead thereafter. WENHAM improved position steadily while fencing good, but was no match for the winner. EL ARABI was taken back in the early stages, then closed resolutely. PAINTED SHIP, reserved in the early stages, caught tired horses. DAUNTON had no excuse. LUREMENOW bobbled at the fourth fence. EXPIATOR tired. HYVANIA was always far back. DON JOSE II. began in a tangle, was rushed into a forward position and quit. DIK DIK lost his rider at the seventh fence. MAHATMA. A SCHEDULED STARTER. TONGA took command at the break, but lacked speed to remain in command, resumed command when GEORGIA G. gave way and drew clear. RESOURCEFUL gained the lead briefly between calls, but could not resist the winner. LIVELY GAL was prominent and showed a good effort. RUB-ADUB-DUB faltered nearing the end. WAR-ASTER, taken back just after the start, crossed to the outside rail, then caught tired horses. SEA CAP was never a serious factor. HADASSAH lacked a closing rally. HAM BONE was permitted to race slightly wide while making the pace, veered in entering the stretch and lasted for the pace. GRAND DEMAND went up on the rail to threaten, had to be steadied momentarily when HAM BONE came in, then faltered in the late stages. VALOR II. saved ground early, came to the outside after a half mile and closed strongly. DANS CHANCE was blocked approaching the furlong post. OFF LINE swerved in midstretch. KILLER MAC moved up on the outside in the stretch and had to be cautiously handled the final sixteenth mile while lugging in. MUZZLE faltered in the final furlong, as did DUTOIT.
