WILD BULL* far back for more than a half mile, circled the field while moving into contention and continued his rally to wear down VANNIE GIRL. The latter held a commanding lead for the first half mile, held on gamely when engaged by LUCULLUS and just missed. LUCULLUS forged to the front on the final turn, was unable to put away VANNIE GIRL and weakened siightly. CURVACEOUS, under restraint while racing wide early, rallied mildly leaving the backstretch and rallied only mildly thereafter. BEST RULE weakened after being in contention. ST. GEORGE moved boldly to Icom a threat from the inside in the early stretch, then faltered. CHARLIGHT, sore as usual and outrun early, closed fastest of all. USELESS broke down in the race. COLUMCILLE dueled for the early lead and weakened. POULE DEAU was unable to threaten. FULL-FLEDGED lacked a menacing rally. BOSS BENNIE failed to gain a forward position. FRANKY BOY broke tardily. SHREWD improved his position gradually, assumed command nearing the furlong pcle and outfinished INDICATED. The latter, always formidable, continued willingly. NUTMEG, within striking distance early, dropped back steadily and rallied when too late. DOROTHYS MISS made up ground in the late stages. MERRY SIZZLE displayed speed to the stretch and weakened. MAKE SWAY set the pace, as usual, and quit. MR. FERVID had a rough trip. CARELESS JONES could not keep up. SAND CRAB was shuffled back. DEVILKIN dropped far back while being weakly handled early, circled the entire field and closed with a rush. BIG KEIS was unable to keep up early and made up some ground. BUSS UP rallied too late to seriously threaten. INCA was hustled to the front at the start, but weakened. POES POEM weakened after three furlongs. SURPRISE GIRL moved along the rail to wrest command, then gave way while allowing the winner room on the inside of her. JACOLEE closed with good energy to finish in a dead-heat with MIDST. The latter failed to seriously threaten. THIN DIME held a favorable position on the outside, but failed to rally. CURIOSITY quit. CARMAGNOLE, hard pressed while setting the pace for a half mile, flattened out badly. PETTY LARCENY quit. FLICKA FOOT quit to a walk. BROKEN LENS raced forwardly from the start, engaged the leaders from the inside and responded to pressure to gain the decision. THISTLE JAY improved his position steadily and may have been the winner had he not lugged in badly in the vicinity of the furlong pole. JOFIELD, in front early and unhurried when displaced, again reached the leaders from the outside entering the stretch, but lacked a rally. DEPENDABLE drove through along the inside of JOFIELD to gain command along the backstretch, held sway into the stretch and, after giving way, was bothered slightly when THISTLE JAY lugged in. FOURTH JACK raced wide throughout and failed to gain a striking position. QUESTION EIGHT was crowded early. SIR RIDGEWELL broke slightly to the inside and was taken off horses.
