GAY TEN showed her usual speed to secure a long early lead, was tiring in the last stages, but lasted under strong urging to hold the opposition safe. WHITE BONES saved ground, but was blocked behind LARRY DOOLEY and forced to take back on the stretch turn, then came out slightly for the final run and finished fast. JALEEN, lightly steadied closest to the pace, could not get up when set down for the drive. LARRY DOOLEY saved ground while well placed, but lacked a rally SOSPIRO made up distance from a slow start BABY PAULY was through early. SAQQARA began poorly and was taken up leaving the gate. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. CAPTAIN BOUDOUR, allowed to settle into stride, gradually moved to the leaders from the outside through the backstretch, then had to be carefully handled while attempting to lug in during the drive and, after brushing with TEDDY TARN, proved best. TEDDY TARN was lightly urged to reach closer contention, reached the front between calls in the drive and held on gamely. MR. HAPPY was taken in hand when displaced early, came wide into the stretch, then finished determinedly from the outside. CALL SHOT went into a long lead after a quarter mile, but faltered when headed for the drive. SANTAS VIXEN raced evenly. BLACK PEPPER was outrun. OFF AT 3:05 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. UNIFICATION walked away from the gate, but was quickly hustled into stride and a forward position, remained under strong urging throughout and wore down the leaders from the outside to win while doing his best. SANDHURST hesitated leaving the gate, rapidly entered contention on the inside and had to be eased back from close quarters inside ASH TRAY on the far turn, then came again on the inside for the drive, but could not stay with the winner. HATTIE R. dashed into a long lead at once, held sway into the final furlong and flattened out badly. TEXAS SKIES raced out in the middle of the track throughout and never was put to undue pressure. ASH TRAY weakened in the drive. J. NORTH was outrun. SHORT HILLS was through early. LADY SEVEN dropped far back. FIGHTING BUDDY went to the front early, was taken in hand while trying to bear out on the turns, then responded to steady handling in the stretch run and, following a straight course, gradually drew out over SELTZER. The latter vied for the pace from the start, may have been lightly bothered while outside FIGHTING BUDDY on the turns, appeared ready to draw clear when urged for the drive, but weakened suddenly. SKY PRINCE was a sharp factor under alert handling, saved ground throughout and finished well. TEMPTING failed to respond when punished for the drive. BOLOG could not keep up. PREPARED was alertly handled to put away HANKIE, opened a long lead turning into the stretch and was ridden out to the finish, then pulled up very sore. THASIAN HERO, unable to keep up while between horses, was taken to the outside at the far turn, lost distance thereafter, but finished well and clearly bested HANKIE. The latter began fast, could not stay with PREPARED after a half mile and faltered. PUFF was under intermittent urging while a forward factor and finished evenly. BULLOW raced evenly. KING CLOVER, steadied in close attendance to JOEY BOY, was under light urging to take a short command on the final turns, came wide into the stretch, then finished resolutely under extreme pressure and gained the decision. JOEY BOY saved ground setting the pace and remaining in hand for six furlongs, then was strongly urged throughout the stretch run and finished determinedly. KING OKAPI lacked early speed, then bested tiring horses. IRISH GAME, the only one to be under heavy pressure early, tired. HEARTY LAUGH was outrun. Scratched— 27876 Mr. Boots, 119. PRINCE CONSORT, under pressure while outrun and far back for six furlongs, responded to urging through the stretch and, closing fast on the outside, was up at the end. WOHNEDA drove through an opening on the inside to reach a short lead in the early stretch, continued determinedly while drifting slightly wide and just failed to last. FULLBLAST was alertly handled setting the pace, retained a clear lead to the stretch, then weakened, but held on well at the end. SAN JUSTO made up distance steadily, but hung in the final run. GAY GALLENT saved ground rallying on the final turns, then tired in the last stages. OPERATOR and EVAS TOY quit. Overweight— Wohneda, 2 pounds; Evas Toy, 1. Prince Consort claimed by Trio Stable. The latter was hard urged through the backstretch to reach the runner-up position, then had nothing left with which to challenge the winner and finished evenly. DENTIFRIce came between horses on the stretch turn and made a bold move, then failed to carry his speed to the end. MARY BARR came around horses to make up distance from a sluggish beginning.
