Phillips Rides First Winner BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 15. — Apprentice John Phillips registered the first riding victory of his brief career when he successfully piloted T. Smiths Cozy Corner to victory in the third race at Beulah Park on Monday. Phillips began riding at Sunshine Park last winter and had 16 mounts prior to yesterday s score. He is 17 years old and hails from Mobile, Ala., and is under contract to R. C. Howard.
