Illinois Notes ; WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., May 15. A. E. Mettz, conditioner of a formidable public unit, checked in with six horses from Churchill Downs. The Falls City, Nebr., sportsman has campaigned his stable at Washington Park for the past several years. Reuben W. White journeyed in from Louisville and is again dispatching the fields during the Lincoln Fields-at-Wash-ington Park meeting. White recently was the recipient of congratulations for the excellent start of the seventy-seventh Kentucky Derby in which he sent the bulky field on its way in perfect alignment. William Booth, trainer of the sizable Sam E. Wilson, Jr., stable, received stall allotments for the 20 thoroughbreds now under his direction. William Sander, assistant trainer of the extensive Reverie Knoll Farm, checked in from Lexington, Ky., with a portion of the stable. Trainer J. W. Burton will arrive with the remaining horses from Louisville within the next several days. L. B. Kindle, trainer of the William S Cline unit, transferred his stable from Sportsmans Park to Ak-Sar-Ben. Jockey John Mack Brooks accompanied the stable west. Owner and trainer Arthur Kelley departed with his four-horse stable for Fair-mount Park. Included in the contingent were Tintary, Waxon, Reade Castle and Paddys Pet. Frank Carra, official at Ak-Sar-Ben, arrived and renewed acquaintances with members of the local colony. Carra will depart within the next several days for Omaha. In a private transaction William Hal Bishop hold Little Flower to the Mariano Stable. J. L. Clarke will condition the Mariano acquisition for future engagements. Tommy Root, trainer of those horses owned by W. J. Walden, W. M. Wickham, H. D. Cornell, and Herman Weiss, came in with his sizable unit from Churchill Downs. Root, who previously was a Chicago regular, has campaigned his contingent on the New Jersey circuit during the past four years. Keith Carter, representative in charge of the Midwestern division of the TRPB, was on hand for the opening days program. Carter later will be joined by Joseph Korjenek. Recent arrivals from Gulfstream Park were the stables maintained by Phil Reuter and Rufus Shilling. The formers public unit and Shillings string, owned by the Kentucky sportsman, John Gibson, completed the lengthy journey without mishap. William Resseguet registered nine thoroughbreds with racing secretary Lawrence C. Bogenschutz. Included in the formidable string, which arrived from Lexington, Ky., were Eds Pride, Academy Reward, Fighting Home, Field Goal, Merry Zac, Beautiful Jane, Short Reign, Night Fog, and Fiery Chief. Jockey William Garner arrived upon the local scene. The accomplished rider, who rode with success during the Churchill Downs meeting, will free lance during the Chicago season. Harold O. Simmons, trainer of the Wool-ford Farm stable, reported the arrival of Candidate, Specific and Positively from the farm situated near Kansas City, Kansas. Herbert M. Woolf , master of the Woolford unit, is expected to arrive from his home within the next few days. Milton Resseguet came in from Lexington, Ky., with 16 head. Included in the shipment was the two-year-old colt, Oh Leo, owned by J. H. Dunn. Oh Leo is a candidate for the forthcoming Joliet Stakes.
