Bill Corum, president of Churchill Downs and general superintendent Tom Young, of the Derby course, conferred this morning on plans for celebrating Armed Forces Day. The local club will put on quite a show Saturday and all men in service uniforms are to be admitted to the track free of charge. The twin features, valued at ,000 each, are named the Armed Forces and the Waves and Wacs. Other races also are to carry well known military titles — the General Swift, the General MacDonald, the Spearhead, the Camp Campbell, the Fort Breckenridge, and the Fort Knox. Adm. Forrest T. Sherman has been invited to be the Downs guest of honor on Armed Forces Day. Major Corum, youngest field officer in the U. S. Army during his duty tour in World War I, is anxious to present top sport on the holiday bill and racing secretary Fred Burton and members of his staff are making every effort to arrange a banner program, which will be the final of the current Downs and Kentucky spring season.
