WAR HAL, steadied while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, responded to strong handling during the drive and wore down DUSTLIGHT in the last sixteenth. DUSTLIGHT, hustled from the beginning under a poorly judged ride, entered the stretch with a short lead and continued gamely under punishment, but could not hold the winner, although probably best. I0NA U. lacked early speed, but finished fast between horses. PHARACK, far back to the last three-eighths, saved ground during the drive, but could not overtake the leaders. TURBAN, away fast, was roughed repeatedly ano failed to rally when clear for the drive. RESORT was on the outside from the beginning and drifted out while tiring during the stretch run. HIGH TEST was never dangerous. DREAM COMFORT failed to stay after racing well to the stretch. CASS was through early. Scratched— 31191 Oatka, 109. Overweight— lona U., 1 pound. BULLY BOY, never far back, was sent to the outside of OLD TOM for ttie stretch run and, responding to strong handling, disposed of the latter in the last strides. OLD TOM moved up fast after the beginning and assumed command, made the pace until inside the stretch and held on gamely, but could not withstand the winner, just missing. SUFFKI, on the inside throughout, could not better his position when set down through the stretch. VIXEN ROSE was outrun. GOOD-SHOPPER, on the inside and forced back repeatedly until reaching the upper turn, was sent to the outside of LITTLE DANNY for the stretch run and, responding readily to brisk urging, disposed of the latter during the final furlong. LITTLE DANNY was sent to the front at once, made the pace until inside the stretch, was placed in close quarters by GOOD-SHOPPER during the drive and could not withstand the winner, although much the best of the others. BUSY FARMER, in hand to the stretch, was unable to reach the leaders when set down in the drive. MAD AGAIN had early speed, but failed to stay. MR. SIG moved up fast after three-eighths mile, then weakened. CHOW LINE was outrun. LOCK OUT was permitted to race wide during the final quarter mile.
