OPEN WAY, slow to reach best stride, took the complete overland route when making nis stretch bid and, after reaching the lead, won drawing away. BIDANDMADE, hustled to the front soon after the start, held sway until well inside the final furlong before weakening. VININA closed with a belated burst of speed in a sharp effort. CURIOUS REWARD, much used early, had little left. WHITE BOOTS was always between horses. SILVER SENATOR failed to stay. HOOPIE was never prominent while on the outside. LITTLE LESS and COUNTRY DANCE were always outrun. BULL PRINCE retired steadily after displaying early speed. WAR ANTIQUE, forwardly placed from the start, responded readily when shaken up for the stretch run and, under clever handling, was up in the concluding strides to prevail over DRY SUMMER. The latter held a clear lead when settled for the drive, tired during the late stages and could not withstand the top one. OLD FIDDLE closed resolutely and rapidly was overtaking the leaders. RUDDY BELLE, away fastest, failed to stay. SO THERE had no apparent excuse. CHO CHO SAN began sluggishly. OUR FOLLY and COUNT GALLA never threatened. Scratched— 31059 Bill Boy, 109. MISSAB, unhurried when outrun early, came out to the middle of the track to assume command inside the sixteenth marker and drew clear when subjected to brisk pressure. FOXY STAR reached the lead with a rush entering the stretch, then held on willingly to be easily best of the others. RARE BID faltered when called upon for her best effort. MIST ODAWN, shuffled back on the final tum, lacked a menacing rally. SPRING CHIMES quit. MR. R., forced to take up sharply soon after the start, failed to recover. Scratched— 11796 One Alone, 110. The latter closed resolutely in a sharp effort and gradually was getting to the winner. SWAP OUT moved up menacingly on the outside nearing the furlong marker, then faltered. CUORE finished courageously along the rail and probably would prefer a longer distance. CHILOE II. closed a gap. CONVIDADO failed to respond when set down for the ultimate test. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE. TIDY SUM outsprinted his rivals into the first turn, drifted out entering the stretch and momentarily gave way to FRENABILBEPA, came again near the finish and, after taking command, gamely withstood CACOMO. The latter responded readily when roused for the final test and closed with good energy. ENFORCER failed to make up appreciable ground when hard ridden through the stretch. SAINT NICHOLAS caught tiring horses. FRENABILBEPA gave way suddenly inside the stretch. FOXY LARK was unable to keep up. DELTA EAGLE was always between horses. WHIRLING DOUGH was never formidable.
