Northville Downs Wagering Up 13 Per Cent Over 1950 NORTHVILLE DOWNS, Northville. Mich., June 20. — Northville Downs is off to its best season in seven years of history. All records J or first week mutuel handles were broken during the first six days this year. Wagering at the popular half-mile track is up 13 per cent over a year ago and is considerably better than any first week in the past. The opening weeks handle was ,083,-160, an increase of 18,163 of a year ago. In other words, fans are pouring in an average of about 0,000 per day more. This years first week exceeded by ,529 the best opening week in history — that of 1948 when ,075,631 was wagered.
