OUR HESPERA broke alertly and went into a clear lead, drifted in slightly through the drive and outgamed GATLIGHT. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of GATLIGHT was not allowed. The latter was a sharp factor from the start and turned in a good effort. TUT-TUT-TOOTIE was always prominent, but faltered in the ate stages SET GO broke sluggishly. WAR-ASTER lacked speed. COPPER RIVER had no mishap. FRENCH QUARTER tired. GERTRUDE C. dropped back after racing with the first flight early. SECOND RACE 3-4 NHLE. Mighty Quest, May 18, 1951-1:09-4-115. DANUBE raced BUSINESS LADY into defeat and drew out under light hand urging, began to tire in the final sixteenth and was hard punished to the wire SPY RING took up sharply when blocked entering the turr, forced her way between horses thereafter •and closed strongest QUICK DEAL was forwardly placed from the start, held on well and just failed for the place CONNIE RAB ran wide leaving the turn, then closed resolutely. GREAT WHIRL was slow to gain bes* stride finished well and came out of the race sore. MASTER BRIAN trailed, went to the middle of the track for the drive and finished stoutly. DEMAND NOTE had no excuse. BUSINESS LADY quit after showing early speed. Scratched— 30999 Prince Centive, 113. ALLIER, in close attendance of the pace from the start, was forced wide on the turn nearing the final fence, disposed of EXTRA and drew clear a few strides before the wire and won fully extended. FONDA, a sharp factor while on the outside, also was carried out nearing the final hedge, then was getting to the winner with a belated bid. EXTRA made the pace from shortly after the start, went wide nearing the final fence and faltered nearing the end. SNOW KING II. had no excuse ST. FRIGID established a long lead nearing the turn, was shaken up entering the stretch and tired suddenly. QUILLET had no excuse. EN GARDE quit, as did IGHTAM. BUSANDA, steadied along the early stages on the backstretch, made up ground from the outside under rating until leaving the turn, *ent up quickly to dispose of the leaders when punished and drew away under strong hand urging until the end. HOW, under light restraint while between horses most of the way, improved position between horses when making her bid and wore down LEADING HOME for the place. The latter, well placed from the start, threatened gamely in the stretch, but was not good enough. MARTA made the pace until midstretch and weakened. JAZZ BABY saved ground while prominent and faltered in the final furlong. MY CELESTE swung wide leaving the turn. THELMA BERGER was outrun. ARTS MONA had good speed for six furlongs and tired. VOLO SONG, a sharp factor from the start, made a game bid in the stretch, but was not good enough. REVENGER was forced to lose ground. ARDOCH gained the lead midway between calls in the stretch and faltered in the closing furlong. BUSAGI went by tired horses after racing wide early. LE FIGARO had speed for a half mile and quit. DEMAVEND broke in a tangle, was hustled along to be closest to the pace, took command leaving the turn, but could not withstand the winner. FIRST DEGREE lacked a rally.
