How Jampoi Was Named EIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 16.— The name of Jampoi, carried by Max Kahl- -baums Preakness candidate has had many persons puzzled, as to how it was given to the horse and what it meant. Mrs. Marion DuPont Scott, breeder of the Virginia geld- • ing, has furnished the explanation and it is a simple one. Mrs. Scott has a friend who lived for some time in Bali. Among the Polynesians who people Bali, "Jampoi" is an expression of approval which is accompanied by the act of raising the thumbs. Since Jampoi is by Thumbs Up, the name is a natural.
