No Triple Crown Winner This Year With Hill Gail Non-Starter PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 16. — The most exclusive thoroughbred club in the United States undoubtedly is comprised of the eight horses who have won the "Triple Crown." Sir Barton was the first to accomplish the feat in 1918, and, just 30 years later, Citation became the eighth.. The others to accomplish this feat were Gallant Fox in 1930, Omaha in 1935, War Admiral in 1937, Whirlaway in 1941, Count Fleet in 1942, and Assault in 1946. There can be no "Triple Crown" winner this year because Hill Gail, winner of the Kentucky Derby, is a non-starter. He is on the sidelines with a bit of leg trouble.
