Betsy Ross Lures l6Sophomore Fillies Speedy Cinda Given Call at Camden Shouse Miss Competes With - Blue Case, Jubling, Recover, Sufie in Six-Furlong Stake By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 16.— If the size of the field has anything to do with it, the initial running of the 0,000 Betsy Ross Stakes here tomorrow should be a smashing success. A bulky field of 16 three-year-old fillies answered the call to participate at six furlongs, in- eluding six stable couplings. The mistress of the band appears to be Jouett Shouses Cinda, who will share honors of shouldering the highweight of 121 pounds under the allowance conditions with Joseph M. Roeb-lings Blue Case. The entire program is an attractive one, and the large patronage during this meeting will be maintained. Weather and track conditions are expected to be at their best, and the crowd will also see in action such bright performers as Clarence Buxtons Ted M., William G. Helis, Jrs Evicted and Mrs. J. Carsons Kinsman, matched together in the sixth race, and G. P. Stricklands Lord Priam, Dan Sheas Sweet Vermouth and Mrs. Janon Fishers Dawn Plight, who will compete in the fifth. While Cinda is expected to rule the choice with jockey Charles Burr in the saddle, the daughter of Occupy must be at her best to handle tomorrows company. Cinda is undoubtedly sharp at present, and she recently won the Cherry Blossom Stakes at Laurel and a division of the Colonial Handicap at this course two weeks ago. She is very fast and, breaking from the number 13 stall, she should have little difficulty having her say in the fashioning of the pace. Bred in New Jersey Blue Case, a New Jersey-bred daughter of Case Ace, was a winner in the Rosedale and Spinaway Stakes last semester, while her first outing this spring at Jamaica was a good effort in which she finished second to Parading Lady. Blue Case failed to show her usual dash in the Prioress, however, and that is her last essay to date. The Prioress found Jubling, who will race coupled with Blue Case for owner Charles H. Wacker, m., finishing second to the winning Landmark. Jubling, under 113 pounds, will be handled by Doug Dodson, while Blue Case whthave Arnold Kirkland aboard. Jubling- won three straight last season and she may be the strongest one in this field. Recover, coupled with Voltage as the Hal Price Headley entry, was a smashing second to Cinda in their division of the Colonial Handicap here, with many observers believing she took the worst of the trip, and might have been the best. However, she could not hold her speed in the Prioress, finishing fourth. Her burden tomorrow is 118 and Logan Batcheller is her rider. Anchors Aweigh, to be ridden by Willie Passmore under the Cain Hoy Stable silks, triumphed in the Jasmine Stakes at Hia-leah last winter, but, she was well-beaten in the Prioress. Cary.C. Boshamers Miss Nosoca will have a strong following if for no more than sentimental reasons. This homebred miss was somewhat of a sensation around this sector last year, winning the Garden State • Parks. Rancocas" Stakes and, after being sidelined by an injury, came back later to account for the Margate Handicap at Atlantic City. This is her first endeavor of the current season, but popular Jimmy Stout will be in the irons and she has been training smartly.
