KALLUKI was under steadying restraint while racing next to MAKE SWAY, easily assumed command when that one faltered In the drive and drew into a safe lead. CREW-CUT was slowest away from the gate, raced between horses while improving position on the turn, then came to the outside for the stretch drive and finished well. HEAD STREAM was steadied while racing up behind the leaders on the far turn, came through close quarters on the inside for the drive, but could not menace. IT GIRL dropped back slightly on the turn, but held on well in the drive. HAPPY RABBIT gave an even effort. MAKE SWAY had her usual speed, but flattened out after five furlongs. Won ridden out; second and third driving. CHARLEY FOY quickly established a commanding lead, saved all possible ground while running along freely, then repulsed REHEARSER under punishment and was going away again at the end. .REHEARSER moved up fast on the inside after the start, raced slightly wide on the final -turn and in the stretch, but made a strong bid coming to the last eighth, then hung. BARBAREBA was steadied after a good start, raced within striking distance, but lacked a rally. TURF STAR began slowly, saved ground and rapidly improved position in the final run. CARIDURO could not stay with the early pace and faltered. CAPTAIN ARDEN was outrun. Overweight— Barbareba, 2 pounds; Turf Star, 1; Oriental, 1. Captain Arden claimed by Blue Stone Farm. AGRARIAN-U was rated close to the pace, responded to steady urging in the stretch run and, challenging from the outside, proved best at the end. PRINCE RANSOM alternated in forcing. and setting the pace with BEAU BETS, saved ground and held on well under brisk urging. BEAU BETS was restrained while racing with PRINCE RANSOM, attempted to bear out when set down for the stretch drive and slightly weakened. DELONG was unable to join the leaders, but finished evenly. BLUE FEDORA was outrun, came to the inside for the stretch drive and could not get up. BLAZING began sluggishly. TOREADOR gave a poor effort. WOODFORD SIR worked his way forwardly betwee horses and finished well. FRENABILBEPA was a prominent factor and weakened. HELEN MAY raced on the outside in an even performance. COLONEL ZEDER faltered. LORD PRIAM was under mild pressure racing on the outside of the field down the backstretch, quickly disposed of SWEET VERMOUTH on the turn and swung over to the rail at the head of the stretch, then continued to increase his advantage while going easily. SWEET VERMOUTH was alertly handled to outsprint the early opposition, was no match for the winner when challenged, but remained easily superior to the others. TAHITIAN raced on the inside throughout and held on well at the end to best GREY MAGIC. The latter was outrun. DAWN FLIGHT showed nothing. BEDOUIN and CORFEL faltered. SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. THEE AND ME was sent In pursuit of the leaders soon after settling in stride, raced along steadily to draw out to a clear lead in the stretch and then lasted under brisk punishment. SEA GRASS, rated off the pace, rallied from the head of the stretch and finished willingly. TED M. was well placed and appeared dangerous making up ground on the final turn, then failed to gain when put to punishment. BIMFORT was rated while setting the pace, but willingly gave way after six furlongs. SUN BAHRAM was under intermittent rousing while outrun, but rallied too late. CINDA was alertly hustled along while holding a narrow advantage down the backstretch, appeared ready to shake free of RECOVER several times, but remained under extreme hand pressure to maintain her advantage to the finish. RECOVER was sent up to contend for the pace after going a furlong, while between horses, was on the inside of CINDA and dropped back slightly on the final turn, then came again under hard urging and finished gamely. An objection lodged by the jockey on RECOVER against CINDA was not allowed. ONE MISS raced along well placed, steadily improved her position and finished well without menacing the top pair. JUBLING broke slowly, ran up on a horses heels at the far turn and then had little chance. VOLTAGE began fast, but could not keep up after three furlongs. ANCHORS AWEIGH had no mishap. MISS NOSOCA showed nothing. ADAMANTINE faltered. BLUE RHYMER quit early. BLUE CASE reared over and became lodged under the gate, then began well, but dropped back steadily. RIGHT METAL raced well placed on the inside, drove between horses to open a clear lead entering the stretch, then bore out sharply when urged and bumped GAY GALLANT, was quickly straightened and lasted, then was disqualified and placed second. GAY GALLANT saved ground and rapidly entered contention on the turn, came outside of RIGHT METAL for the stretch drive and, after being bumped by that one coming to the sixteenth pole and forced wide, just missed. JAPHAP established a commanding lead down the backstretch, but weakened after a mile. TIMEIN was a sharp factor to the stretch, then faltered. CHAGIN, far back, as usual, failed to menace while rallying" on the extreme outside. SUNNYMAN failed to respond. FREE PASSES was outrun.
