Tartar II., Dominion Compete Again former Lost Purse On Redistribution Latter Carries De Aganos Colors Today at Hawthorne Following Claim Last Week HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 17.— Two horses who figured in a purse redistribution last Wednesday will meet again in the Big Brand Purse, which features Lincoln Fields Monday program at Hawthorne. After Tartar n. After Tartar IL. won an overnight race last Wednesday by three lengths, it was discovered that the South American was ineligible for the race. The winners end of the purse was awarded to the second horse, Dominion. The latter vjas claimed in the same race by T. De Agano, but the purse went to O. and R. Pollock, who had entered Dominion and who raised an objection against Tartar II. This objection was sustained by the stewards. Tartar LT., a seven-year-old stallion bred in Argentina, is owned by Tracy Boudon. His ineligibility last Wednesday was due simply to a miscalculation in reading the calendar. The wagering was affected in no manner. Mondays big Brand Purse is the same distance as the race in question last Wednesday, one and one-sixteenth miles. Tartar LT. was an easy winner at Hialeah last February, taking an event at the Florida track by five and one-half lengths. He was narrowly beaten a couple of times at Laurel before coming west to Chicago. In 10 starts this year Dominion has failed only once to get a part of each purse. He won a race at Sunshine Park in February and had finished second four times prior to meeting Tartar n. last Wednesday. Dominion is a five-year-old by the Kentucky Derby winner, Johnstown. Winner Opening Day of Meeting The Big Brand Purse brings out a field of eight who appear to be well matched. It includes J. M. Graces five-year-old mare, Ticker Tape, winner on the first day of the current meeting. Another mare in the race is Locust Lawn Farms Worthy Option, winner of two races this year. In one of these, at Sunshine Park, she won by two lengths at the direct expense of Dominion. Her latest victory was scored at Sportsmans Park when she won at a mile and one-sixteenth. Completing the field for the Big Brand are M. A. Silagy, Jr.s Haberdashery, W. H. Bishops Big Inch, R. Westons Genial Jack and Born to Win, from the Circle Bar Ranch. Haberdashery, a six-year-old gelding by Cravat, out of Flinette, by Flint Shot, finished third in both of his 1952 starts. He has a rather consistent record for previous seasons, having won four races in 1951 and three in 1950, besides placing on numerous occasions. Big Inch is a cast-off from the Walmac Farm. He finished fifth in his two latest starts, but won a race at New Orleans in February. The horse had been claimed by Bishop a month earlier. Two candidates for forthcoming Lincoln Fields stakes engaged in short works on the heavy track today. Hasty House Farms Seaward,- one . of that Toledo establishments nominees for the Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap next Saturday, breezed a half, while Reverie Knoll Farms Smoke Screen, a candidate for the Peabody Memorial Stakes on Decoration Day, breezed a like distance. Hasty House horses finished one-two in the 1951 renewal of the Fleming, Wine List being the winner, with Roman Bath second. The stable has a strong hand for next Saturdays renewal, having nominated Roman Bath, Inseparable and Ruhe in addition to Seaward.
