GROUND FOG, between horses during the early stages, came to the outside when clear on the turn, moved up strongly to. displace TEDLIN nearing the end and drew clear. The latter, forced to race slightly wide while well placed, took a clear lead between calls in the final furlong, but was not good enough. DETECTIVE made the pace until midway of the stretch and faltered. GUIDING, in good position from the break, threatened boldly in the stretch and shortened stride. SKY BLUE was through early and came out of the race sore. ILTIS trailed early and caught tired horses. MISS BARON had no excuse. HELANEIUS had brief speed and bore out when tiring. TRINITY PLACE, A SCHEDULED STARTER, INJURED HIMSELF AT THE GATE BEFORE THE START, WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN AND ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. NATOUSA broke sluggishly and did not gain her best stride until after a furlong, disposed of the leaders and drew clear to win in hand. WARDONNA vied for the. lead on the inside in the opening quarter mile, held on determinedly, but was no match for the winner. AGENT had good speed and weakened in the final furlong. STAR OF PERSIA had to be steadied while on the rail nearing the turn, found room to move through on the rail thereafter and wore down the leaders in the final stages. AESTHETE, with the first flight from the break while rated, came out when ready for the drive, took command between calls in the final furlong and just failed. HYPALONG, rushed along from the outside to gain command entering the turn, held on stubbornly until the end," but was not good enough. RIVER JORDAN was blocked momentarily and had to change his course to the inside shortly after the quarter-mile post, made a game bid in the drive and hung. KASTER loomed a threat entering the stretch and lacked a closing rally. UNREST showed little. NECKTIE broke in a tangle. SECOND LOOK tired in the final quarter mile. MATAGORDA was a sharp contender from the break, but could not menace the top onet LAETERNAL pressed the pace and faltered CHARCO had no excuse. JANIE K. broke slowly. RALLY tired. HEREDITY was outrun. BIG FIB was badly outrun. BAMBOO dropped back while bearing out. ELIAS G. made the pace most of the opening quarter, but could not match strides with FANCY BONNET nearing the turn, regained command nearing the quarter-mile post and got the nod. The latter went into the lead entering the turn, held on stubbornly when again headed and just failed. STANDEE broke slowly and trailed for -the opening half mile, went between horses when gaining best stride and closed with a rush. LIVELY GAL made a game bid in the stretch and faltered. FIREY RED ran wide rounding the turn and took BOOTLEGGER with him. The latter broke badly. WINGING ALONG had no excuse. UPSETTER tired. MAMELUKE, eased back when blocked and hemmed between horses midway of the backstretch, was outrun1 until the final quarter mile, came between horses when gaining best stride and, closing with a rush, wore down BATTLEFIELD in the concluding stages. The latter, rated the opening half mile while clear on the outside, moved up rapidly on the outside rounding the turn to be with the leaders, took command and drew out in the stretch then shortened stride in the final sixteenth mile. ONE HITTER, between horses most of the way while outrun, swung slightly wide for room entering the stretch and closed with good courage. ARISE, in good position from the start, v/ent between horses to challenge leaving the turn and faltered in the drive. GREEIC SHIP saved ground throughout and had no mishaps. CRAFTY ADMIRAL went up to vie for the lead after the opening quarter mile, went well until midstretch and weakened. BRYAN G. raced forwardly for six furlongs and gave way. HULL DOWN was through early UNCLE EDGAR ran wide on the turn. NEXT MOVE gave way badly the final quarter mile after showing good speed. COUNT TURF hesitated at the break. LONGLEAT made up ground .gradually from the outside, moved up stoutly in the drive, lugged in badly in the late stages and the jockey stoutly restrained his mount to maintain a straight course and got the nod over BAKERSFIELD. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of BAKERSFIELD was not allowed. The latter, steadied early, went between horses when ready to make his bid and missed in a game effort. UNCLE JAY was permitted to drop back on the turn, threatened again in the stretch and gained command briefly between calls, but was not good enough.
