It Happened Like This - .» LEXINGTON, Ky., May 17.— When Leslie Combs n purchased his present farm, he was at a loss for a name. Turning to Mrs. Combs, he said, "I think we should name the farm for the greatest horse ever owned by the Combs family and I believe it would probably narrow down to two that were owned by my great uncle, Dan Swigert."In answer to Mrs. Combs question as to whom they were, he said Spendthrift and Hindoo. She replied, "Well it wont be Hindoo." So thats how Spendthrift Farm got its name.
