American-Bred Vagabond VII. Second in Derby Trial Stakes LINGFIELD, Sussex, England, May 17. — William S. Woodwards Epsom Derby entry, Vagabond Vn., showed prominently in the 12-furlong Derby Trial Stakes here Friday. Ridden by young Lester Piggott, Vagabond "VTI. was only beaten two lengths by the 4 to 1 favorite, Aga Khans colt Tulyar, who proved too strong for the American-bred colt in the final furlong. Vagabond VII., who started at 10 to 1 after haying only made one previous start, pleased trainer Captain Boyd-Rochfort immensely. Like the "winner, Tulyar, the runner-up appeared well suited on this twisting course, which is similar in formation to Epsom.
