■ = ► Brooklyn Turns Down Two 5,000 Bids for Morgan BROOKLYN, N. Y., May 17 UP. — General manager Buzz Bavasi of the Brooklyn Dodgers revealed today that the club has turned down 5,000 offers from both the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs for shortstop Bobby Morgan. Bavasi said he told general manager Gabe Paul of the Reds and personnel director Wid Matthews of the Cubs that if the Dodgers were to give up Morgan, they wanted players in return, and not cash. Morgan, 25-year-old native of Oklahoma City, played at Montreal all last season and batted .271. He was the International Leagues most valuable player in 1949.
