Twelve Well-Matched Runners Go at C ran wood Shifting Peace, Ginobis Sun and Bun Reward Match Speed Today By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent CRANWOOD PARK, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, May 17. — Sophomores hold the spotlight on Mondays nine-race card and the title for the event is the Alaking. The 12 drawn overnight are of the ,000 and ,750 claiming variety, and they are asked to compete at six furlongs in quest of a part of the ,000 purse. As customary, the feature is carded seventh, and the competition should be keen. Those slated to go postward are Hall and Fetzers Cadet S., Mrs. E. G. Hullcoats Angry Thoughts, G. H. Pearces Shifting Peace, R. Cashs Field Goal, Mrs. F. E. Fitzgeralds Ginoway, Mrs. W. A. Whitesides Ginobis Sun, Mrs. M; Pauls Shyly, L. O. Cadigans Secret Time, G. Y. Bookers Bun Reward, Al Birchs Miss Hanky and M. Cranfords Ethel M. The field is well matched and it is difficult to determine which will be the logical candidate for support in the betting. Shift-ting Peace, however, graduated from the | maiden ranks in the fifth race here on May 12. Prior to that effort, the Shifting | Sands II. filly finished second to Ginobis Sun in a ,000 claiming affair. Bun Reward was also in their wake that day and it would seem that off that performance the trio cannot be overlooked as potential candidates for the major award. Ginoway was third to H. M. Simpsons Just Mamie and Miss Hanky in the sixth race on the thirteenth. The latter of the two is far down on the also eligible list but should the scratches and a "lucky shake" warrant her getting into the affair, it will increase the interest considerably. Field Goal, Shyly, Secret Time and Ethel M. are the unknown quantities as it will be their first outing at the course and the latter is the bottom one on the "eligible" list. Three distance races are in order for the Monday card and go as the third, eighth and ninth, respectively. The third and eighth .are for four-year-olds and older horses at one and one-eighth miles, while the ninth has a mile and one-sixteenth setting. In the eighth, Safety Lock, who races in the interest of Jerry Lynch Inc., will be trying for a second consecutive victory. The full horse, by Snaplock, was a length and one-half victor over H. Diehls Iron Penny in a. mile and one-eighth race last Thursday. However, the strip was muddy and from all indications it will turn fast over the week-end. * The Dorchester Farms Bellisan is another who showed his heels to a band of similar rivals the last time out, and was a convincing four and three-quarters lengths the best of W. J. Bills Gay Purchase to be going away at the end of seven furlongs. The contention will very probably betaken up by the pair, but any of those rounding out the field, which include Glacial Run, Jade Lad, Montfaucon, Hullie and Count Rayburn, could furnish strong opposition.
