Omaha Inaugural May Be Run in Two Divisions Charing LightR U There, Thistle Dog Prospects for Event Tomorrow OMAHA, Nebr., May 17.— There is every indication that Ak-Sar-Bens Inaugural Handicap, which has been run in two divisions every year since 1945, will again be divided for the opening day of the 1952 program Tuesday, May 20. Director of racing R. A. Leigh was enthusiastic over the prospects for a split of the feature event, ,due to the many good horses on the grounds. If the division is made, the advertised purse of ,000 will be offered in each division. Earl Beezley, who won one end of the Inaugural last year, will be a tough contender again this year with Charing Light and R U There, each a winner of four races last year. The horses have been training well and look like split silk. Sonny Williams will do the riding for Beezley. There will be plenty of competition. L. O. "Spec" Lane has Dr. Tulip and Thistle Dog ready for action, and Lyo Lee will likely put J. H. Nail, Jr.s, Phantom Sea and High Reno into the fray. A newcomer to the Omaha area is Blan Lawler of Portland. Ore., whose Circle B Ranch will probably start Mio Ace and Snapheel. Joe Ormond will have English Kin ready from a fresh win in an allowance race at Golden Gate. Also from Golden Gate are Bolingcall and Toubolee of the Monahan Stable, and Carl Craig with the redoubtable Reno TJpabout, a recent winner in California. The Amarillb, Tex., cattleman, W. S. Cline, will likely send Dad, winner of four races last year, into action if trainer L. B. Kindle considers the veteran campaigner ready. Carey and Evans of Colorado have 111 Be ready for the fray, and G. and W. Shultz will likely start Butch K., winner of seven last year. M. Mugan, California horseman, may start Pleezwynne, winner of nine last year, and other possible starters are the Nebraska-bred My Time, owned by William Fudge;-Lasting War, owned by the Petsch Ranch stables; Cross Ring and Humphrey, owner by Merle Mitchell of Brush, Colo.; Sabaean, owned by Glenn Granger and trained by Tom Westrope; E. C. Teams Blunt; S. S. Barretts Auntie; C. D. Alexanders Big Whale; Ed. Luthers Amber Miss; Ted Yochums Seventh Sun; W. E. Buck Britts Dry Summer; the Loveland, Colo., Stables entry of Black Bottle and First Blue; Mrs. D. Kennedys Starting Time; Mrs. Alice Likens Royals Last; Verde Stock Farms Franzel; E. R. Coweys Gray Venture, fresh off two wins at Toledo, and Fawcett and Warrens Newton Airds. Mrs. Paul Weyerman," Qmahan who recently entered the thoroughbred game through the purchase of several horses in Florida, has two likely prospects for the Inaugural in Caucus ind Here Me, which are under the tutelage of trainer. Douglas Sekicky. Another Omahan who may takle a shot at the handicap is Louis Marchio, whose four-year-old mare, Makaylita, is showing, real promise under the guidance of trainer Jesse Steelman. There are plenty of jockeys here to take care of all riding assignments, with last years four top reinsmen returned for action. They are Leonard Jones, Harold Walker, Lawrence Jones and Sonny Williams. Other top veterans already here are N. L. Pierson, former contract rider for Calumet Farm; Taylor Powell, Dell Jessop, Hank Manifold, Tom Osment and Oscar Wells. Among the apprentice jockeys here are Clarence Ford and George Edward Martin who rode at Hot Springs; Jerry Gallion, Rollie Poulter; Dwayne Rosebrook, Louis Syfrig and Gene Hull.
