Kathie C. and Hedrick Jr. Meet atMaywoodTonight Two Leading Three-Year-Olds At Track Vie in Mile Event MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., May 17. — Two leading contenders for Maywood Parks three-year-old championship, Kathie C. and Hedrick Jr., will meet Monday night as the west suburban track begins the second half of its harness racing season. Theyll travel the mile in a field of eight pacers in the seventh race. Kathie C, who draws the pole position, is owned by Paul Corbitt of Anna, HI. The fleet Court Jester filly has won three of five starts, finishing out of the money only once. In her last effort, Kathie C. set a personal mark while winning in 2:10%. Hedrick Jr., who will start from the No. 2 spot, also has captured three of five starts, including his last two in a row. The Hedrick colt is owned by Dr. William Bell of Elsa, Tex., and has paced the mile as fast as 2;09% at Maywood. In their only meeting to date, Hedrick Jr. finished on top, with Kathie C. taking third. But these two youngsters wont have the race to themselves. They face competition from Honors Truax, owned by Dr. A. W. Modert of Mt. Vernon, 111., and Ray Scott, from the stables of Delbert Smith, Young America, Ind. Honors Truax has scored three victories in seven efforts, and will be driven by Dee Stover, current leader in the Maywood drivers scramble. Ray Scott is a two-race winner for the meeting. Completing the field are McLean Cash, Dillatress, Clara Tass and Transmitter. [ True Jay, still stinging from his double 1 defeat in a divided feature last week, will j try again for his sixth victory in the eighth race, a one mile event. Owner Dave Taddeo will be in the sulky as True Jay tries to improve his status as the most victorious horse on the grounds. Opposing True Jay, who draws the pole, will be Abbe Vonian, Eva Grattan, Highway Pointer, Yankee Chief, Harvest Pilot, Tony Hal and Douglas Bradford.
