RICHAVOO lacked the speed necessary to keep up with the early pace, but improved his position in the last quarter to come through on the inside in the final eighth, and getting to the front held VERONA SANDS. The latter made a strong run between horses nearing the stretch turn and raced determinedly through the stretch. PETES BEST was never far away , and responded to urging fairly well. OGIVE closed some ground. CONVERSATIONAL was far back for the first half mile, then came strongly and after going wide on the stretch turn, attempted to find an opening at midstretch, but was unable to get through. BEST ARRAY headed the field on the last turn but weakened. WHITE BOOTS failed to offer much contention. Scratched 578001 Some Bid, 114. SLUMBERLAND went to the front early and ridden with good judgment while making the pace but put to pressure at the opportune moment, held AUTO MESSAGE. The latter held second place safe after going a quarter and lost some ground on the stretch turn. ROYAL BONES saved ground in the stretch and was closing with good courage. CAPTAIN CARVER dashed to contention on the outside soon after the start and saving ground on the stretch turn when the early leaders went wide, got to the front but was doing his best a"t the end to hold GIN CHAMP. The latter improved his position under steady riding to finish gamely. BIENVILLE made a good move on the inside after entering the stretch but weakened near the finish. MELLO JACK closed some ground. INSTYLE had the most early speed, but bore out badly on the stretch turn, carrying SANDRA RAE with him and causing the latter to lose all chance. STAGGERING IN moved up after leaving the- backstretch and saved ground in the stretch. SKYRAIDING improved her position in the late stages and was going well at the finish. SPEEDY BABY lacked early speed while racing wide, went very wide on the stretch f turn and failed to display very good form. CURIOUS REWARD was used up while making the pace and tired. MATTAFOR was slow to begin, gained gradually and was clearly best of the others in the final drive. SHERIFF GROSCH was closest to the leader until well into the stretch then began to weaken. FAMOUS SHAKE drew out from the field after going a short distance but I weakened near the finish and was doing her best to save second place. RAINTREE was outrun -early and went wide in the stretch but was going well at the end. TIGER HARRIS went evenly. OUR SNICK was outrun to the last eighth, then made up some ground. SAND FLY was under restraint while following JOHN BAUER for the first six furlongs, then went to the front around the stretch turn to take a short lead, but was forced out to hold MISS FORAY through the last sixteenth. MISS FORAY showed a good stretch effort on the outside of the winner and was gaining slightly. MORE CHEERS closed some ground. GOOD DANCER raced evenly. JOHN BAUER tired.
