IS PROUD broke alertly, immediately opened a long lead and, being much the best, won with speed in reserve. GIVE raced in closest pursuit of the winner, bore out slightly on the stretch turn and lasted to best CHINA DOLL. The latter raced in company with GIVE, was carried out by that one in the drive and finished gamely. BLUE NANCY gave a good effort, but was no match for the top three. SCHATZI began sluggishly, then rapidly improved position near the end. NIGHT TOWN was fractious in the gate and showed nothing. HAPPY TUNE held a short lead under pressure, gave way to JAC-SWEEP while taken-in hand for a breather between calls on the turn, then responded to punishment and proved best. DEARIES ROUND was a keen factor, raced slightly wide on the final turn, then finished resolutely. JAC-SWEEP was briskly hustled to gain the lead on the turn, then weakened only slightly in the final run. HE WOLF gradually improved position under a brisk ride. AEGIR could not keep up and raced wide. AUNT JANE was outrun. STRAY GIFT bore out on the turn. CLARES PRIDE quit. PERIPOSE walked out of the gate. CORINTH wrested a clear lead early, remained under strong handling throughout and, despite drifting out at the end, lasted to hold BLUE FEDORA safe. The latter was sgueezed back from between horses nearing the far turn, remained blocked and under strong restraint until inside the stretch, then closed, fast when clear and was getting to the winner. COYOTE was a sharp contender while saving ground on. the rail and held cn well. HAT CHECK GIRL raced prominently placed, but slightly weakened.
