New Tote System Works Perfectly at River Downs CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 29. Racing director Henry Green announced that River Downs is ready to throw open its gates for their scheduled 44-day session which will be inaugurated Memorial Day when the Ohio State Jockey Club, operators of the Queen City track, will play host to one of the largest opening-day crowds in the long history of the track. This came after a, full dress rehearsal of more than 200 mutuel plant workers, during which straight, place and show tickets were sold and cashed. The speed and dispatch in which the newly installed "totell performed, elicited much praise from mutuel manager George Reverman. Green also was on hand for the test run and he said the new "tote" system would win immediate approval from race fans here. The three stewards, Keene Daingerfield, Monte Weil and Sam C. Nuckols, arrived on the scene Tuesday and are checking all applications before briefing the riders on the rules and the conduct expected of them throughout the long local session.
