Olson, Young Finally Matched For Middleweight Show-Down Meet in New York June 79; Winner May Oppose Turpin-Humez Survivor for Crown By BARNEY NAGLER Staff Correspondent NEW YORK, N. Y., May 4.— The domestic, or 100 per cent American, successor to Sugar Ray Robinson as middleweight champion will be determined in a 15-round bout between Paddy Young of Greenwich Village and Carl "Bobo" Olson, the Pacific Coaster, in Madison Square Garden, June 19. In announcing the match yesterday, the International Boxing- Club said that Sid Flaherty, Olsons manager, had agreed to split a 60 per cent purse with Youngs agent, Harry Stickevers. The percentage will include any and all receipts from television. Closing of the bout lends real support to the stand of the European Boxing Union, which agreed over the week end, in convention assembled in Paris, not to recognize the winner of the Randy Turpin-Charles Humez bout in London, June 6, as a world championship affray. Yankee Stadium Picked Instead, an attempt will be made to pair the American standout with the survivor of the London brawl. Such an event would take place at the Yankee Stadium in September, being the only big-time bout available to the IBC at this time. Young qualified for the test with Olson by defeating Ernie Durando, artless Bay-onne, N. J., puncher, in a 12-round qualifying bout. This match had been anointed as a heat for the big one by the joint board of review, an agglutination of the New York Athletic Commission and the National Boxing Association. Young and Olson will be meeting in the ultimate match of the truncated tourn-ment established by the JBR after its original, king-size tournament was found to be unwieldy. At that time, Olso had shown less than passing interest in fighting in any tournament. His proprietor, Mr. Flaherty, had said that he wasnt interested in anything but a definite match. Now he has that.
