HAPPY AGE was close to the pace from the start and, coming resolutely under hard urging on the outside of PONDER PAT in the stretch, caught him to win going away. PONDER PAT drew away from the field on the backstretch and saved ground thereafter. ALONZO B. closed up well in the final eighth. MAR POMPEY weakened after reaching a prominent place. THIRZA saved ground while the early leaders were racing wide and. forging to the front in the stretch, gamely withstood a challenge from SUN IDOL JR. to win narrowly. SUN IDOL JR. had speed, but lost considerable ground through racing wide and finished on the outside of the winner. WHAT A PEACH took a good lead on the backstretch and increased it nearing the stretch turn, but weakened in the final drive. GRAY COBBLER failed to threaten. BILL TWIG made up some ground. HASTY SUN was slow to begin but moved up gradually and, getting through on the inside of BROWN PIRATE around the far turn took a short ead but was forced to a drive to win. BROWN PIRATE drew out on the backstretch, bore out slightly on the tar turn to lose the leadership, and then came to the outside in the stretch to finish well. LEASE HOUND had a fair amount of speed, but was no match for the fust two KING MIDAS beat tired horses Overweight -Mighty Mousse, 4 pounds.
