Rollie Reynolds on Three Winners at Fort Miami Triumphs Astride Merit, Benwood Flyer, Forethought in Early Races By R. E. HURLEY Staff Correspondent PORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 4. — Little Rollie Reynolds provided most of the action for the 2,232 sunbathed patrons in the early races at the Toledo course this afternoon as he hooted home both ends of the Daily Double combination of Merit and Benwood Flyer, then came right back in the fourth race at a flat mile to score another front running victory on J. F. Murphys Forethought. The 25 -year-old native of Albany, Ind., showed a fine sense of pace as he took each horse to the front and never allowed the opposition to draw close enough to endanger the issue. In the first event at five furlongs Reynolds had the nine-year-old Merit three lengths clear of his nearest competitor as the gelding returned 5.20 to the Reynolds followers in the crowd. Rollie stole off to a long lead in the second race with the favored Benwood Flyer and never permitted the gelding to loaf at any stage coming home five lengths clear of the field. Benwood Flyer paid .00 in the role of favorite and completed a 4.00 "all Reynolds" double. The front-running lad had Forethought clear all the way around the mile oval as the gelding ran the mile in 1:43 and paid .00 as third successful favorite of the day. Reynolds was scoring his sixth, seventh and eighth wins of the meeting and moved into a deadlock for second position in the jockey race at the Maumee track.
